Triathlon is a sport that tests not only the body, but the whole person. It is a demanding combination of swimming, cycling, and running, officially born in California in 1974 before the Ironman Championship in Hawaii became one of the world’s most challenging sporting events. It later entered the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000, becoming a global dream for endurance athletes.
In Bahrain, the sport began with quiet steps through the establishment of the Bahrain Triathlon Federation and its membership in the Arab Triathlon Federation. It soon grew into a complete sporting project thanks to the vision of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, who did not limit his role to administrative support, but competed in races himself and won the Ironman Military World Championship in 2018 in Kona, USA, raising Bahrain’s flag in one of the nation’s most memorable sporting moments.
From this belief, Bahrain Victorious 13 was born in 2015, bringing together elite world and Olympic champions under Bahrain’s flag, until it became today one of the most prominent triathlon and endurance sports teams in the world.
During the 2026 season, Bahrain Victorious continued to strengthen its global presence with standout results. Vasco Vilaça won WTCS gold in Samarkand, while Kat Matthews claimed major Ironman victories and a silver in Texas. With stars like Georgia Taylor-Brown, Taylor Knibb, Jelle Geens, Martyn Van Riel, and Vincent Luis, the team reflects Bahrain’s ambition to compete for the world’s biggest triathlon titles.
