Knibb continues her record-breaking brilliance, while Vasco Vilaça claims gold in Querétaro

Team Bahrain Victorious 13 continued its strong run of results during the 2026 season, as American athlete Taylor Knibb claimed her third title at Ironman 70.3 Oceanside, breaking the course record she had first set during her impressive victory in 2022.

Knibb showed no signs of fatigue just one week after her victory at T100 Gold Coast, delivering a dominant performance across all three stages of the race: a 1.9-kilometer swim, a 90-kilometer bike leg, and a 21.1-kilometer run.

After exiting the swim just two seconds behind the leader, Knibb quickly took control during the bike leg, setting a new course record with a time of 2 hours, 15 minutes, and 27 seconds, building a gap of more than five minutes over the rest of the field. She continued her strong form in the half marathon, recording the second-fastest run split, before finishing the race in a total time of 4 hours, 1 minute, and 39 seconds. This broke her previous record by a full five minutes and earned her maximum points in the Ironman Pro Series standings ahead of her anticipated appearances at Ironman Texas and the Ironman World Championship.

In the same context, Portuguese athlete Vasco Vilaça opened his competitive season in perfect fashion by winning the European Triathlon Cup in the Portuguese city of Quarteira, competing on home soil and in front of his fans. Vilaça stayed within the leading group throughout the Olympic-distance race, which included a 1.5-kilometer swim and a 40-kilometer bike leg, before sealing victory with a powerful 10-kilometer run, finishing a full 20 seconds ahead of his nearest rival.
